12 1/2 Weeks

I had a doctor's appointment this past Monday and all looks good. I was hoping that they would do another ultrasound but no luck. I don't get another one until the gender ultrasound at 18 weeks - I cannot wait for that appointment. They took a ton of blood and listened to the baby's heartbeat. It's so amazing to hear that little beat. The midwife got a little frustrated while trying to get the heartbeat though. 'Bug' (as Josh calls the baby) kept moving around like crazy and it seemed like it took forever to get a long enough duration of recording to reveal a rate. After a funny game of hide and seek the rate was established at 160bpm. Amazing. A little weird to think the that he/she is moving around so much considering I cannot feel the movements yet. All I can feel right now is my belly expanding - ha.

Josh and I went out with a couple that we are friends with from Chapel Hill on Friday. The wife is pregnant too. She is 23 weeks along. It was nice to talk with someone that could give me some great information on what to expect in the next few weeks. She informed me that it is super difficult to find baby bedding. So, being the Type A person that I am, I decided to go ahead and decide on a boy bedding set and a girl bedding set - that way I will have time to find exactly what I want no matter what the gender is. It was much easier than I thought. I found two cute sets within 20 minutes - maybe I am just not that picky? Oh well. For a girl I like a set that is soft pink and has a tree with cute little birds - there's also a touch of soft green - very soothing. For a little boy I would like either vintage airplanes or vintage motorcycles. I found a vintage airplane set at Target but have yet to locate a decent vintage motorcycle set. I am sure Josh would prefer the motorcycles :)
